The sensor data sheet for the gyroscope says that it has a full-scale reading of 2000deg/s, or 14.5DN/(deg/s). Is this enough to see the rotation of the earth?
The earth rotates 360deg in 86400 seconds, giving a speed of 0.0041666... deg/s. Multiply this by 14.5 to get 0.06DN, if one of the sensor axes is perfectly aligned with the Earth's axis. This may be detectable with a long data run.
